Eliminate Bribery Culture By Establishing An ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP)
Bribery is a widespread phenomenon, creates serious social, economic and political problems, undermines governance structures, hinders development and distorts competition, erodes justice, undermines human rights, hinders poverty alleviation and even causes loss of life and property.
Bribery can also increase costs in business activities, uncertainty in commercial transactions, increase the cost of goods and services and can certainly reduce the quality of products and services.
Bribes can also erode the trust of the public and interested parties in institutions, as well as disrupt markets and efficient market operations.
Eliminating the culture of BRIBERY is very much determined by LEADERSHIP COMMITMENT to build a culture of integrity, transparency, openness and compliance.
Organizational culture will determine the success and failure of destroying the CULTURE OF BRIBERY .
With the LAW alone is not enough to solve the problem of BRIBERY. Organizations should have a responsibility to proactively suppress BRIBERY by establishing an ISO 37001 ANTI-BRIBERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMAP).
BRIBERY is: a form of offering, agreement, giving, receiving or requesting improper benefits, can be financial or non-financial, direct or indirect, not influenced by location in violation of applicable laws, as an inducement or gift for someone who acts or is a part of actions related to the performance of the person in charge. (ISO 37001:2016).
Recently, we have been presented with interesting spectacles from public officials in our country, both in the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary, Central and Regional. They practice bribery both individually and in organizations. They have damaged the order of government, caused social problems, eroded public trust in their institutions and could even threaten the lives of the people who have put their trust in them, robbed them of human rights and moreover damaged themselves.
Are there any central or regional governments committed to suppressing the practice of bribery? To date, only a few Ministries/Institutions have shown their commitment to burying the practice of bribery by building an ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System.
